the Langtang region

One of the closest trekking locations to Kathmandu is the Langtang Region. The area, which is only 132 kilometers north of Kathmandu, is ranked as the third-largest trekking location in Nepal. The Langtang Region is stunningly gorgeous and rich in biodiversity. Another draw of the area is the distinctive culture of the Tamangs and those with Tibetan ancestry. It is reachable without taking an aircraft. The three largest cities in the area are Langtang, Gosainkunda, and Helambu. These itineraries can be combined in several ways to create treks that span anywhere between a week and 16 days.

Trekking in the Langtang region offers breathtaking views of the mountains up close as well as visits to unusual towns and long-standing tea houses. A unique experience is available only in Langtang. The main Himalayan range to the north and a cluster of enormous peaks to the south encircle the area. A few peaks to note include Langtang Lirung (7246m), Gang Chhenpo (6388m), Naya Kangri (5846m), Yala peak (5700m), and Dorji Lhakpa (6966m).

Gosaikunda

The first national park in the Himalayas to be established in Nepal, Langtang National Park is the second largest, with an area of roughly 1,700 square kilometers. The area is home to 283 kinds of birds, 32 animals, 15 different types of forests, and 3,000 different species of flowering plants. More than 70 glaciers of all sizes are found on Langtang. Helambhu, which is around 75 kilometers north of Kathmandu, is the perfect location to view the majestic Himalayas and beautiful landscapes. The Yhalmu people that live here are much more like the Khumbu region’s Sherpa population. They have a rich culture and tradition.

Similar to this, Gosaikunda (Holy Lake at 4381m) is a well-known pilgrimage location with beautiful lakes that rise upward. During a full moon festival in August, thousands of people honor Lord Shiva. From Dhunche or Sundarijal in the eastern Kathmandu Valley, one can reach Gosaikunda.
